Hey everyone!  Beeling Cool just broke the news about my comic project with William Harms (published by Top Cow).... Shotgun Wedding!  The four issue story will be out in April next year.  The cool thing is, it will be release weekly!  So if you dig the first issue and want more... well, next issue will be in the store the following week.

Absence

As you may have noticed, I have not been updating this blog for months now.  The reason is, I'm crazy busy with a comic project with writer, William Harms.  If I keep up the pace, I hope to finish this project by fall.  So please be patience with me.  Here's a sneak peek at 2 panels.  As it get closer to launch, I'll be able to share more!

In the meantime, I'll try to post as often as I can.

Monster Chase

This is a test web comic idea I was playing around with. Doing a regular web comic would be fun but it is a lot of work to keep some sort of schedule daily or weekly. The upside... once the story arc is over, it can probably be collected in a regular comic to sale at Emerald Con. Maybe if I have a good enough idea, I might give it a try.

This one page strip is in Zombies vs Cheerleaders #3 by Moonstone Books. I just did the line art earlier this year. Story, colors, and lettering by someone else.

Ghost Hunter 1page comic

I did this in 2009 and submitted it to Taps Paramagazine. The editor liked it but they were committed to printing other comic strip. I was told they still might use it later but that didn't happen.

Now that it's couple of years later and Kris William is not investigating with Jason and Grant... this fan comic is a little out of date so there's zero hope they would use this.

Inception Cover Contest Entry

This is my last minute entry for the Inception Comic Cover Contest on DeviantArt. They provided the story and template so I just drop in the art and posted it. The DA staff is going to select 15 semi-finalists and Christopher Nolan picks the final winners! I know it's a slim chance... but who knows? Fingers crossed!

Update: I didn't make the 15 semi-finalists list. :(

Zombie Pages

About a month ago, I tried out for a horror anthology book but it didn't worked out. Since I did some work on it, I thought it'll be interesting to post my process. This 8 pg story was written by William Harms (Impaler & Dead or Alive). I read through the script and layout all the pages.

Not very pretty at this stage. I just need to figure out how to arrange the panels and where to put the word balloons. After that, I start thinking about the characters and how I want to render the art to best fit the story.
Above is a two panel teaser that I whipped up. I tried to do it more painterly but it didn't feel solid enough. But I like the energy of the quick strokes. There's a certain chaos and madness to the line work which I thought would fit the story.

Below are the first two pages. Page one is probably the most finished. I was half way through page two when I got word (from the guy that put the anthology book together) that I didn't get the job.

It was a good experience working with someone else script. In the future, maybe I'll have another opportunity to work with Mr Harms on a different project.
