Ghost Hunter 1page comic

I did this in 2009 and submitted it to Taps Paramagazine. The editor liked it but they were committed to printing other comic strip. I was told they still might use it later but that didn't happen.

Now that it's couple of years later and Kris William is not investigating with Jason and Grant... this fan comic is a little out of date so there's zero hope they would use this.

The Silence

Second season of Doctor Who premiere last night. The Silence are the new bad guys in black suit and tie. The interesting thing about them is the second you look away from them, you'll forget them. Because of this ability, they're able to remain hidden from humans for who knows how long.

Pretty interesting first episode so far. These bad guys are just a small part of other surprises that went down.

Sakura Con 2011

Today, I went to Sakura Con in Seattle, Washington Convention and Trade Center. A big event for all things manga and anime. Got there at 10:15 AM to wait in line to get register and didn't get the badge to get in till 12:30. That will teach me to pre-register for the show next year!

The show was very crowded and I score some Copic makers. There were lots of people cosplay for the event. Check out the photo parade below. It's a fun show if this is your thing.

Weeping Angel

One of the coolest bad guys from Doctor Who. Their first appearance on DW is one of my favorite episodes.

The deal is.... if you look at them, they turn to stone. But the second you close your eyes (or blink), it'll move super quick and get closer to you. So the only way to keep them away is to never blink and always keep looking at them.

Ogon Bat

There are few specific memories from childhood that always stuck with me. One of them is playing with a model toy at my cousin's house in Hong Kong. I didn't even know the name of the character. It was a gold figure with a skull face wearing a black cape. He's inside a black coffin and when you open the lid and push a button, he would stand straight up. When my mom told me it's time to go, I cried and want to take the toy with me. She had to purchased the toy from my cousin so I would go home. This moment always stay with me. Mostly because of what my mom did for me.... the toy was just part of that story.

Fast forward to a few days ago. Just doing a little web surfing and I ran into a ebay listing for a unassemble (still in the original box) Ogon Bat model. The name didn't mean anything to me but the pictures hit me like a ton of bricks. It's the same toy that I cried over so many years ago! I felt like I was in a time wrap and seeing a old buddy that I thought I would never see again. Wow... I could totally spend the bucks and purchase a piece of my childhood back (this time with my own money).... but I decide not to get it. The reality is: if I did buy that model kit, I would never open it or put the toy together. There are only few of them left in the world.... there is no enjoyment to own something like that.

So I pay tribute to that moment in my youth with a fan art and instead of spending money on a toy that I can't play with, I'll probably take my folks out to dim sum this weekend. :)

Baby Doll

I like the Sucker Punch movie. The fight scene and the visual are great. The story does have their problem but overall, I can see where it was going and I get it. So be warned... It got a lot of negative reviews, but for me... it was worth seeing it on the big screen.

ECCC 2011 Report Part 3

Final report on ECCC! This year, I totally spaced about getting pictures before giving the convention sketches to the client. The next few Bat Villain sketches were done Saturday evening... that's when I finally remember to take some pics.



The next one is an interesting commission. The sketch is done above Wil Wheaton signature. The challenge was to draw his likeness with a Hulk body! I was really nervous working on it because I don't want to screw it up and I only get one shot at it. At the end, the client like it and send me this scan.
Anyone that got a con sketch from me, please send me a scan if you can. Thanks!

ECCC Report Part 2

Even Real Life Superheroes made it to the comic con. It was really cool to see Phoenix Jones and Pitch Black there.

ECCC Report Part 1

ECCC this year is a three day event. I have my usual stuff for sale, plus a couple of copies of Voltron art tribute book which I have an artwork on page 33. I also put together an art book which have a lot of stuff from this blog plus some unpublished work.

Below is a 360 view from my table in the artist alley. The big change on floor plan is the media guest section was now located below us which allow more space for the exhibitors and the artists.

Doors open on Friday at 2 PM and the traffic was pretty good. At the end of the day, I found most people were scouting out the place and planning what to spend their money on.

Saturday was the busiest. I sold the most ever on that day. Everyone was in a great mood and I saw a few people that I've not seen in years. Good times.

Sunday was mellow. I sold as much as Friday. Not as many people but the traffic was still more than what I expected. Toward the end of the day, I finally got a chance to walk around. My big loot was a Doctor Who Christmas toy set with a Tardis, the new Doctor Who, and Amy Pond (in police uniform). Got a decent deal on it too. Total score!
Overall, I had a great time at ECCC this year. Come back for part two.... the cosplay gallery!

ECCC 2011

Emerald City ComiCon is going to be three days this year! Start this Friday and go through Sunday. As you can see, there are bunch of media guests, comic artists (above is just a small selection), and tons of comics/toys.... geek heaven! :) Click HERE for more info.
