Thundercats

This is a redesign challenge over at CGHub. Didn't win but it was still fun to do.

ECCC 2011 Report Part 3

Final report on ECCC! This year, I totally spaced about getting pictures before giving the convention sketches to the client. The next few Bat Villain sketches were done Saturday evening... that's when I finally remember to take some pics.

The next one is an interesting commission. The sketch is done above Wil Wheaton signature. The challenge was to draw his likeness with a Hulk body! I was really nervous working on it because I don't want to screw it up and I only get one shot at it. At the end, the client like it and send me this scan.
Anyone that got a con sketch from me, please send me a scan if you can. Thanks!

Okay, that's it for the ECCC report!

ECCC Report Part 2

Let the cosplay parade begin!

These guys just grab the Betsy Mae books and posed with them. Cool!

After I got this pic of this rad Chewie costume, he lift the mask... he's actually one of my art pal from the artist alley! What a surprise!
Even Real Life Superheroes made it to the comic con. It was really cool to see Phoenix Jones and Pitch Black there.
This is just a small samples of cosplayer at the con. Thanks for all the people above for letting me take their pictures. They're all AWESOME!

ECCC Report Part 1

ECCC this year is a three day event. I have my usual stuff for sale, plus a couple of copies of Voltron art tribute book which I have an artwork on page 33. I also put together an art book which have a lot of stuff from this blog plus some unpublished work.

Below is a 360 view from my table in the artist alley. The big change on floor plan is the media guest section was now located below us which allow more space for the exhibitors and the artists.

Doors open on Friday at 2 PM and the traffic was pretty good. At the end of the day, I found most people were scouting out the place and planning what to spend their money on.

Saturday was the busiest. I sold the most ever on that day. Everyone was in a great mood and I saw a few people that I've not seen in years. Good times.

Sunday was mellow. I sold as much as Friday. Not as many people but the traffic was still more than what I expected. Toward the end of the day, I finally got a chance to walk around. My big loot was a Doctor Who Christmas toy set with a Tardis, the new Doctor Who, and Amy Pond (in police uniform). Got a decent deal on it too. Total score!
Overall, I had a great time at ECCC this year. Come back for part two.... the cosplay gallery!

ECCC 2011

Emerald City ComiCon is going to be three days this year! Start this Friday and go through Sunday. As you can see, there are bunch of media guests, comic artists (above is just a small selection), and tons of comics/toys.... geek heaven! :) Click HERE for more info.

Once again, I'll be in the artists alley at table E-20. Come by and say "hi" if you make it to the show.

Sidekicks & Henchmen 2

I got one artwork in a comic themed art show called, "Sidekicks & Henchmen 2" at Flatcolor Gallery. Show starts on Thursday (reception 5-9 PM) and run through March 27th. Come by and check it out if you get a chance. Click HERE for more info.

*Flier artwork by Stuntkid! Isn't it awesome?! That's Penny from the Inspector Gadget btw.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Cupid updated his gear to the modern times. :)

Hero Complex

There's a short article about inFamous the comic (plus preview pages) and I have a quote in it. :) You can also see one of the graphic cut scene from the game. For my part, I worked on the storyboard and the line work. Ink lines, colors, and the composite are done by the other talented folks on my team. Click HERE to check it out.

Gantz the movie

Last night, I went and saw the world premiere of Gantz. It was a broadcast in 300 theaters in the US with a live interview with two of the main actors afterward.

I have not read the manga but saw a few episodes of the anime. I won't go into the story because it's so strange that it's better to just experience it. As for general notes about the movie...There were some awkward silence, folly was really off in one scene (actors running on the street but the sound was running on wood floor!), and on some action scenes, I want to yell "just pull the frak'in trigger already". Overall, I did like the movie. Gantz have a really bizarre premise and it's weird enough that it kept my interest.

True Grit

First post of 2011!!

Fan art of "True Grit" with Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn and Hailee Steinfeld as Mattie. I like the movie. Jeff Bridges did a great job as always. But the movie is more about Mattie's character and her determination to seek revenge. There are some pretty violent parts but over all a good flick.

Anyway, hope everyone a happy new year!

Inception Cover Contest Entry

This is my last minute entry for the Inception Comic Cover Contest on DeviantArt. They provided the story and template so I just drop in the art and posted it. The DA staff is going to select 15 semi-finalists and Christopher Nolan picks the final winners! I know it's a slim chance... but who knows? Fingers crossed!

Update: I didn't make the 15 semi-finalists list. :(

Santa 2010

I know... he looks kinda sad. Maybe he's a mall Santa and after a full day dealing with so many kids, he just ran out of gas. ;)

Anyway, hope everyone have a great holidays!

Manga sketch

I recently got a copy of Manga Studio EX. This is my second doodle using the pen tool. I'm really digging the effects... it really mimic the G pen really well. The sketch pencil also worked great. I'll have to get into the program some more after I finish my current project.

BTW... this character is Akito from the manga, Bakuman.

Tron Legacy: Quorra

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Tron Legacy on Dec 17th. I wish Disney would have release the original Tron movie on dvd first but noooo.... they probably holding it till after the new movie comes out. Boo. Anyway, here's the trailer if you haven't seen it already.

Art Jam No. 5

Once again, Augie and friends are putting on a Art Jam in Georgetown on Dec 11th. There's going to be music and artists painting the night away. Plus all the artwork will be on sale... each piece priced at $50 and under. This is a great event to check out Seattle local artists at work (and play) and grab some great artwork for presents this holiday season. Click HERE for more info and links to see photos from past Art Jams!

Also... Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Spooky Sammy

Way back when I started doing the comic convention thing, I made a character named, "Spooky Sammy". I made a batch of little mini comics to sell for 50 cents each plus a few prints. She was a cartoony character and her ability was to be able to see monsters and talk to them. They would help her out in some way, usually to get back at someone that wrong her some how.

Anyway, this pic is an updated version of that character. If I bring her back, it'll probably a horror comic book.

Tree

Futurama: Zoidberg

Here's my concept of what Zoidberg would look like if someone tries to make a live action movie of Futurama.... with a hard core scifi visual. ;)

Sucker Punch - Full Movie Trailer

Sorry for not posting any art lately. My schedule is pretty full at the moment.

Here's a pretty cool trailer for "Sucker Punch" to keep you entertain for a minute or two. Enjoy!
