Buffy the Vampire Slayer

When Buffy first air as a tv series, I was not interested at all. After a few season later, I finally saw a full episode and I was hooked! The writing was great and Joss Whedon created a fun universe and characters that you care about.

Batman

I remember watching the Batman TV series and thought it was the coolest thing ever. A live action superhero show... cool. Of course, looking back now... it not that cool. Anyway, I still feel the costume and the batmobile is very... groovy and far out. ;)

Tony Stark and Iron Man

I really dig the Iron Man movie and wanted to do a fan art. Robert Downey Jr did an awesome job and if you haven't seen it yet.... you got to!I use the classic comic armor in this pic. The mark I in the movie is great and you can see how everything work... I just perfer the old comic armor... because it's easier to draw. ;)

Bonnie

Bonnie is at my house for couple of weeks. I must confess... I don't like her very much. She stares at me when I'm eating. Lay down right behind my chair when I'm working on the computer so I can't push my chair back. The feeding, giving her water, and the long walks... as if I need one more things to do. To get her back... I did a color sketch of her. There! That'll teach her a lesson. Hmph.

Olympia Festival sketch part 2

Here's the last sketch from the show.

When things were really slow at the festival, I got up and walk around. When I got back, this guy was by my table reading Betsy Mae Bite. It was perfectly normal... I encourage folks to flip through my books. But this guy took his time and read every single page. Didn't even say "hi" or anything... just stood there and read. Well, since he's there, I got out my sketchbook and drew him.... and no, he didn't notice. After he read BMB, he grab the Atomic Lead and read that one too... all 74 pages! After that, he went to another table and did the same thing.

The moral of this story... be polite. Or someone might write what you did on their blog. :)

Olympia Comics Festival report

Here are some pictures I took at the festival. The building is The Vault, a dance club that they opened up the windows and let some sunlight in. You can see the stage on the right where they had live music and interviews. The artists tables are on the dance floor section. It was really nice to see some many indie artists. Michel Gagne was there and I spend a few minutes chatting with him. Other feature artist include Jeffery Brown and Jim Woodring. Actually, that's Jim on the stage in the photo doing his interview.

So that was the front area and my table is in the back...which is on the left of this picture. The pool table was pushed back to allow for more tables for the cartoonists. Can you spot my table in the picture below? It's over in the right corner.... right next to the men's bathroom. I got lots of traffic right by my table... too bad they all have other things in mind then to look at my books. ;)

Here's a closer look at my table. I didn't take too many things down there. Just my Betsy Mae Bite, Atomic Lead #3, and my pins. Because I was at the very back... I couldn't hear any of the interviews. That was okay... I just talk to the other folks around me.

Overall, it was a good experience. I always want to be in the festival and glad I could finally do it this year. The Vault is a really good building and fit the artists, crowd, and atmosphere. I really hope this will turn into a big indie comic show for the pacific northwest.

Check back later in the week for sketches I did at the festival.

Emerald City ComiCon Report

The Emerald City ComiCon was really fun this year. Instead of the stadium, they wisely held it at the Washingtion State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle. Bigger show room + ton of guest artists + good location + good attendence (even on Mother's day)= great convention. Here's a panoramic view from my table in the artist alley. It's only about 180 degree tho...
You might find a famous person in there if you can reconize him. ;)

Here's what I had on my table. I really didn't have too many new things to sell.... I made two new buttons, Atomic Lead #3, and sketchbook; Manga Toonz #2. The really cool things was Betsy Mae Bite still sold really well considering this is the second year I sold the issue #1. There were at least three people that came by asking for BMB #2! Don't worry folks... BMB#2 is in the works. Now on to some fun photos!

Here's Flash running to my table. Nice costume... well constructed... but perhaps a little too tight. ;) But the best costume goes to....

Supergirl! The cutest Supergirl in the whole con. Notice the hand position on the hip and that smile... she's a natural! More folks dressed up but I didn't get them on camera.

General note... it was slow in the morning as people rush to check out the mainstream/popular stuff. As the day goes on, people slowed down, took their time, hang out, and chat. Very mellow and not too crowded in the aisle. Anyway....Thanks for everyone that stopped by my table and hope to see you again next year!

Here are the Heroes season one sketch cards I got back from Topps. Note... I only did a handful of ink cards for that set... most were done in pencils.

Convention and gallery party: May 10th, Sat

I'll be Emerald City ComiCon on May 10th and 11th at table F-12. I'll should have a couple of new prints, pins, and Atomic Lead #3 to sale. If you like toys, comics, and catching some media celebs.... this is the place to be this weekend! This will be the first time ECCC is running at dowtown Seattle, Washingtion State Convention Center. It's a pretty big place and a great location. There should be an increase of foot traffic and hoping to see more people dress up for the show!

Also from 6 PM to 9PM, on May 10th.... I'll be at All City Coffee in Georgetown (South of Seattle) for the gallery party to promote Atomic Lead #3. Some of the original art is on display and you can pick up a copy of AL3 which is done by 11 artists, 74 pages, perfect bound, and color cover. Live music too by Andrew Woods. Go HERE for more info. Oh... that night is also Georgetown Art Attack so lots more to see if you stop by.

It's going to be a pretty busy weekend for me... but I think it'll be good times. Hope people can make it to one or both event!

Oh, okay.... not sure how or why... I only got 3 people link to me so far... so being popluar is not it. Oh well, it's kinda nice. Not sure how long it'll stay that way... but you can go HERE and see for yourself.
