Heroes sketch cards

I just finished about 100 sketch cards for Topps Heroes trading cards. Sketch cards are original art that randomly packed into a box of trading cards. And there are bunch of artists that did them too so I was really honored when they asked me to do them.
This is just a small selection from my set. From left to right.... Claire, Hiro, Peter, Nathan, Micah, and Niki. I think the cards will be out next year and if you lucky enough to find a sketch card... it just might be one of mine.

Super Real

Here's the penciled splash page I did for my comic pal Jason Martin. The book is called...."SUPER REAL VS THE MOVIE INDUSTRY". I'm just one of many artists that pitched in on this book. It's going to be neat to see how everything link together.

This is the final colored page. From beginning to end, it took me about two week. I'm so slooooow. :(
Anyway, order the book! Here's some more info...

Illustration Friday: Wedding

When I think of wedding, the first thing that comes to mind is a bride... then a cake. Don't worry, I put the groom in there too. ;)

Illustration Friday: Momentum

It would be so cool to put on a jet pack and fly around. No traffic or worry about finding a parking space. Then again, if you run out of fuel in flight that would suck. ;)

Office prank

"Things to do while your co-workers on vacation..."
A friend send me an email of office pranks and I thought this one was the best.

Have a happy friday. :)

Comic stand

I went out to Bad Girls Antiques (in North Bend, WA) and got this old school comic stand. I remember checking out Spiderman or the JLA in the grocery store on this type of comic rack... and all the comic cost only 25 cents. For a buck you can pick up couple of comics and a pop. The rest of the day was all about going on a fantastic adventure with you favorite super hero. Well, I probably showing my age but those were the "good old days". The store always fill up the rack with whatever comics were shipped to them. So you would get a mix bag of comics everytime. It was so neat to discover new titles... but if you are collecting a specific book.... then you're out of luck. Anyway, back to the comic stand...

As you can see here, these are the bearings that rotate the rack. It's a bit rusty and squeaks... but a little WD-40 should fix that. I probably do a more deep cleaning with a tooth brush a little later.

The top sign is the biggest problem. The rust got into the white area and I'm not sure how to get the it out. Anything I do to rust will remove the white paint too. The good new is the lettering is uneffected so the text stands out really well. I'm looking forward to finish clearning it out and filling with comics. A little piece of childhood just came back home. :)

Rorschach

This is Rorschach from the Watchmen looking up at ya. I'm pretty excited about the movie. Zack Synder (300) will directed and they finally announced the cast.
Rorschach - Jackie Earle Harley
Dr. Manhattan – Billy Crudup
Laurie Juspeczyki/the Silk Spectre – Malin Akerman
Adrien Veidt/Ozymandias – Matthew Goode
Nite-Owl – Patrick Wilson
The Comedian - Jeffrey Dean Morgan
I think it's good that super famous actors like Tom Cruise or Keanu Reeves are not in the movie....so it doesn't distract the viewers. Seeing how Synder handle 300... the visual should be pretty good too.

Comic available at WOWIO.com

A while ago, I did a four page story for Frame Works. The story is split, where one story happens in the sky and at the same time, another part happens on the ground. It's my first ever colored comic pages... I thought it turned out okay.

You can download the entire book for FREE at WOWIO.com. This site is pretty cool and lots of other comics and books to download at no cost. You do need to register with them to get the download. The comic is split into two part because of the length and I think I'm in the second part (Frame Works part 2). Since it's free, just download both! (Frame Works part 1) :) If you want the actual comic (The comic is full color at 50 plus pages.)... the book will be available at Indy Planet ... you can also purchase Betsy Mae Bite #1 at that site too (shameless plug).

Here's the first page of my story. The text is not there but you can see how the story begin to split off.

Click HERE to download this story and others for free.

Hope you like it.

Doctor Who

One of my all time favorite shows.... Doctor Who! It's a British scifi show with weird aliens and time traveling. It's all good fun. The neat thing is... when the lead actor want to move on, a new actor would "incarnate" into the new Doctor... brilliant idea if you ask me. Catch it on Scifi channel on Fridays at 9 PM. You could get hooked like me.

Illustration Friday: Camouflage

Illustration started out with the shaggy dog playing hide and seek with the little girl. Now, I think it turned into the dog hiding because he did something bad. From the smile on the dog's face... he had fun doing it. ;)

Heroes

Can't stand it anymore... so I finally broke down and did another Heroes fan art. I took reference from this week's Entertainment Weekly cover and move HRG and Claire around. Also added the cheerleader outfit... this is the point in the story where Claire is not too happy with her dad.

It's pretty cool how the story is building up to the finale. It'll be really cool to see everyone together and have a big climatic fight in the end. Well... that's what I'm hope for. ;)

Captain America

Why is Captain America so sad? Is it because he's dead? Nah... it's because he missed Free Comic Book day... just like me! Dang, I can't believe I forgot about it. Too late to go to any comic store to get some freebie books now. Well, guess I'll have to wait till next year. :(

Betsy cover comp

Here's the cover for a book I'm trying to get out for Emerald ComiCon. It started out as a three page story for Slam Bang anthology book. This will be an expended stand alone story about 24 pages. There's still a lot to do.... so I hope I can get it done in time.

It should be pretty cool to have all our work put together. I can hardly wait.

Micro Compact Home

This is just too cute. It's a micro home that barely have enough room for one person to live in. It's so small that if someone pass away in 'em... you can just bury the whole thing as a coffin.
Go here to see more photos and info. There's actually a "village" of seven cubes all hooked up together in Germany.
